Sean Anthony’s Review on Jamie Foxx “Best Night of My Life”

If you want to hear a typical party album saying the same ol’ lyrics “we on patron, let’s go home, then let’s bone, tell the DJ to do this, type of album then this is perfect for you.  I was very disappointed after listening to the “Best Night of My Life”.  I could be harsh and say that this was the “Worst 40 minutes of Mine”, but it wasn’t that bad. Although I am a Jamie Foxx fan, I had higher expectations based off of his last album. On this new album, the lyrics were redundant but the production was decent. I felt that Jamie could have given his fans more than what’s out there today.

There are 3 songs that stand out to me; “Fall For Your Type” ft Drake, “Living Better Now” ft Rick Ross and “Winner” ft Justin Timberlake and T.I. (which is old).  Those three songs represent the balance that this album should have. “Fall Your Type” is a well written love song. “Living Better Now” is an innovative approach and new sound  for a hip hop dance track. “Winner” represents a good motivating ‘feel good’ song.

His previous album was very well written and produced and left me wanting more. This album leaves me feeling like a glutton for the mundane pop junk that is over saturating the airwaves of today. With all the talent Foxx has, I feel like he could have given his fans more substance in his lyrics and a better balance over all.

This album Needs More Motivation.
