May is Teen Pregnancy Prevention month, so today on my Sunday morning talk show “The Power of One Voice” we had a discussion about teen sex. Young people today have a lot of peer pressure when it comes to sex. If they don’t hear about sex on the radio, they will see it on T.V. If not on T.V. they will hear about it at school. As adults and parents we must begin the dialogue about sex with our children at home. Not just the simple old school “birds and the bees” talk. They need “real talk”. Some young people called in who had children at the age of 15 and spoke on how hard it is. How she lost her freedom of being a teenager because now she has doctor appointments and so on. One high school freshman called in to say that she is a virgin because she is “afraid to have sex”. She sees what her friends go through being a teen mom and it scares her. The second half of my show I talked about young men stepping up. It’s not all on the ladies. These young men need to know that responsibility lies on there shoulders too. There is a constant dialogue that can continue, so I will digress and let you make comments about teen sex & teen pregnancy.
