Kanye West was recently interviewed by LA’s hip hop morning radio show host, Big Boy. Here are my takeaways:

The media/social media tells you how to think. It tells you how you’re supposed to feel about a particular subject. If you go against any of that, then you will be ostracized. Kanye thinks outside of this norm. That is why Kanye is such an easy “target.” He goes against what’s popular and he’s been consistent. Just look at his career from the beginning. He eludes to this during the interview. He made it cool to wear pink polo shirts. He made it cool to wear skinny jeans. He made ‘Jesus Walks’. He said, “George Bush doesn’t care about Black people” and he wore the MAGA hat, etc…
Today, I believe Ye understands some things that the masses do not. This is on track with a subject that I’ve been researching and covering on my radio show, Flow Of Wisdom for several years. He understands the psychological warfare at hand on the population. He understands how social media and the media (which is one in the same) has a grip on the people. It is so sophisticated and extremely powerful, yet subtle in its control. It controls your emotions and it’s done intentionally. To me, it sounds like he is trying to ring the alarm and truly “wake people up.” Therefore, it’s difficult for people to hear his message because of their emotions.
When Kanye wore the MAGA hat, he didn’t give the hat power. The algorithms on social media, as well as the engagement of the people, gave it power. The image of him wearing the slogan “Make America Great Again” flooded everyone’s social media time line on purpose! People should know that these tech companies design these engaging apps based on our human behavior. We feed the artificial intelligence through machine learning by the way we interact with it. To put it simply: whatever posts causes an emotional reaction out of you the most, will flood your timeline or news feed more.
Ye mentioned to Big Boy how the use of the app Angry Birds causes the chemical release of dopamine in the brain. This is true. For example, take Justin Rosenstein, who is responsible for being one of the engineers that created the “Like” button on Facebook. He said there is inside talk within the tech community that can be described as a quote from The Notorious B.I.G. Ten Crack Commandments, “don’t get high on your own supply.” This means some of the developers of the apps that have us so addicted have set up limitations on their interactions of the very apps they’ve created.
Kanye said, “We’ll point at the white man, then turn around and buy everything foreign. We brainwashed out here, bro. Come on, man. This a free man out here talking.”
“God is showing that you can have your own thoughts, bro.” – Kanye West
How can one be a free thinker in this mind-controlled, social media driven society that we live in? Essentially, this is Kanye West’s message. We all can have our own thoughts. We can have our own ideas, but if you let the realm of this world, the media, social media dictate your thoughts, then, are they really your thoughts?
… and oh yeah, the album Jesus Is King is dope!
